PROMICON at the META 2022 Congress

Meta 2022, the XIV Congress of the Spanish Water Treatment Board, was held on 1 - 3 June 2022 in Seville, Spain. The biannual event, that acts as a meeting point and a discussion platform, invited researchers and professionals with water expertise to analyze and debate the situation of water treatment from a technical and social point of view. 

The 2022 meeting was jointly organized by the Instituto de la Grasa of the Spanish National Research Council, Chemical Engineering Group RNM-271 of the University of Córdoba, and the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Natural Systems of Pablo Olavide University. Researchers from universities, research centers, and companies met to exchange experiences and network with professionals from the world of water, taking up the philosophy of this event. Amongst the participants were the PROMICON partners Beatriz Altamira-Algarra, Eva González-Flo and Joan García from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia · BarcelonaTech (UPC).

The main topics of discussion were emerging pollutants, advanced oxidation and catalysis processes, membrane treatments, biological treatments, sludge treatment, odor treatment, and the reuse of water. 

Throughout the discussions, PROMICON was presented with a poster titled "PHA and EPS production by cyanobacteria microbiomes: Collection, selection and upscaling of natural microbiomes", which described the aims and goals of the project and how the UPC team will contribute to their fulfillment.
