PROMICON’s new social media campaign #WomenInScience aims to portray the excitement and the difficulties that come with being a female scientist, shedding more light on this career path. Each week, we will tell the stories of the women behind PROMICON, and this week we are presenting you Eleonora Paissoni from Isle Utilities.
My passion for Science started when I was little and I began collecting minerals, taking an interest in Geology and the natural world. It continued with studies in Environmental Engineering, to investigate effective means to protect the environment, and evolved into a career in Water Science.
I was lucky enough to always share my study experiences with a conspicuous number of female scientists and I am thrilled to see so many working on the PROMICON project, both in leadership and research roles.
While working for my PhD degree at Cranfield University, my supervisor has been a great example for me and I have looked up to her and her successful career since then and still do. Now that I am an Environmental Technology Consultant at Isle Utilities, the knowledge, passion and care of my female colleagues inspired me day by day to continue my professional journey in supporting innovation in the Water sector.
To young women considering a career in Science, I would advise to pursue their passions, share them with others and search for inspiration not only within their close circle, but also in social media, where almost everyone is just a click away.
