From 3-6 September, the 12th European Workshop on the Biology of Cyanobacteria (EWBC) took place in Seville, Spain, drawing over 250 participants from academia to discuss research in cyanobacterial biology. The event fostered collaboration, providing researchers with opportunities to connect with experts in their field and explore future synergies.
PROMICON researchers also made significant contributions to the workshop. Joan Garcia from UPC presented continuous polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) bioplastics production using cyanobacteria microbiomes. This finding, driven by Beatriz Altamira Algarra, with valuable contributions from Artai Lage Julià, Lin Sun, and Eva Gonzalez Flo, offers promising advancements for sustainable bioplastics production.
In addition, Minmin Pan from UFZ delivered an oral presentation titled "Engineering and regulation of a microbial consortium towards enhanced energy-carriers production", sharing insights into microbial consortia for bioenergy.
