PROMICON at UP’s first PhD Student’s Conference - „Environment-Plant-Animal-Product”

On the 26th of April 2022, the University of Life Sciences (UP) in Lublin, Poland held its 1st PhD Student’s Conference - „Environment-Plant-Animal-Product”. The event had a hybrid format, with an option to attend in-person or online. It gathered a wide range of leading international experts, amongst whom were the PROMICON partners Beatriz Altamira-Algarra, Eva González-Flo and Prof. Joan García from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia · BarcelonaTech (UPC), as well as doctoral students from Poland and foreign research centers.

The University of Life Sciences in Lublin is a multi-profile higher education institution, which integrates a wide range of agricultural, biological, veterinary, technical and socio economic sciences.

The university organised the 1st PhD Student’s Conference - “Environment-Plant-Animal-Product” with the goal of contributing to the creation of inter-university research teams, both national and international, and the integration of the doctoral students’ community. 

At the conference, PhD students presented their latest research on thesis related to plant and animal sciences, technology and environment and had the excellent opportunity to exchange scientific ideas, share experiences, as well as to establish interdisciplinary cooperation. The program included a plenary speech by PROMICON partner professor Joan García, oral and poster presentations of doctoral students from Poland and foreign research centers, and a competition for the best oral presentation on the subject of Artificial Intelligence in Natural and Technical Sciences.

During the event, PROMICON was introduced, as part of an online session, with a presentation by title "Polyhydroxyalkanoates and exopolysaccharides production by cyanobacteria microbiomes: Collection, selection and upscaling of natural microbiomes." by authors Beatriz Altamira-Algarra, Eva González-Flo and Joan García. During her 10-minute talk, Beatriz brought light to the work she has been doing during the first year of her PhD.
